There is a rich history of sharing best practices among B.C.’s local governments. With 197 jurisdictions, innovations that improve service delivery, project management or administration have long been shared between communities, creating new standards and efficiencies.
The increasing demand, though, for new or expanded services coupled with the need to replace aging infrastructure is stretching local government finances like never before. Excellence is the watchword for all councils and boards as we look for new ways to maximize the value to taxpayers in the services and programs we provide.
This year’s annual meeting aims to accelerate the sharing of stories of excellence among UBCM’s members. Delegates will be provided with first-hand accounts of local success stories from large, mid-sized and small communities. While the current challenges are great, the commitment of local governments to excellence is even greater. UBCM’s 2015 Convention will provide local governments with tools and resources to develop greater efficiencies across all aspects of local government.
